The Search for Mineral Water & Other Adventures

The ladies (my family and friends from Australia) don’t want to take any chances with their health so they’re only drinking mineral water, as opposed to packaged drinking water.

This resulted in an elaborate mission to find and buy as much mineral water as possible. Their initial search lead them to somehow get lost in a slum near Carter Road in Bandra. Later, my husband-to-be came to their rescue and took them to a supermarket near his parent’s apartment in Prabhadevi.

Armed with as many empty carry bags as possible, they proceeded to buy the shop’s entire stock of Himalaya mineral water. The shop assistants were bemused to say the least!

Beautiful flowers for my family.

After the mission was accomplished, we went to my soon to be in-law’s house where everyone was welcomed with flowers and sweets.

Next, it was time for another mission — finding Indian clothes and jewellery for the ladies to wear to the wedding. Lead by my soon to be sister-in-law, we converged on a wholesale market near Dadar railway station. Within 10 minutes she was as stressed as me, as the ladies headed off in all directions. Four hours and much confusion later, everyone had at last found something.

It took another hour to find jewellery to match the outfits. By the end of the expedition, I was utterly exhausted.

We all headed back to Bandra for dinner, and some well earned beer, at the Mumbai Times Cafe. Those who didn’t drink beer were of course content with mineral water!
