Our Mumbai Registry Marriage

in Getting Married

At last, all the legal formalities of our marriage are complete!

We solemnized our intention to be married at the Mumbai Registrar of Marriage on a rainy monsoon day in June. Our three witnesses were my husband’s brother, and two of his oldest friends.

It was another lengthy process involving more forms, photocopies, and waiting. The registry office is a busy place!

Waiting our turn at the registry office.

At last, our names were called. We were given a piece of paper with our vows on it, stating that we would be each other’s lawful husband/wife. We recited them. Then, it was time to sign on the dotted line.

Making it legal.

After all that waiting, it was over quickly. However, the process was still not finished. We were told to come back in two weeks to collect our marriage certificate.
