Hmmm... good idea Monty. Food in Australia isn't very exciting though. It's usually meat and three vegetables... a piece of meat and three different types of vegetables! Next time I do grilled chicken breast, mashed potato, and veggies I'll post some pics. :-)

Thanks so much for your suggestion! :-) It's all so new for me, learning about Indian cooking. I'm not sure how it's supposed to turn out, so I just never know if it's quite right or not. I'm going to try your recipe. It sounds really easy and tasty. I haven't got a pressure cooker yet though. I must admit I'm a bit scared of them. I've heard horror stories about the lid blowing off, and those loud whistles and hisses really surprise me when I'm not expecting them!

i m sure this must be real yum..... bt this is more of a pulao...... khichdi is something thts eaten when one wants a comforting meal similar to a hot chicken soup when down with a cold.

the lighter and easier way to make it is pour a bit of ghee in the cooker, add a pinch of asafoetida and jeera (cumin seeds). soak the rice and moong dal or green split moong dal which is soaked well enuff. add them add with salt and garlic in the cooker and give it one whistle and there you go !!

this is generally eaten with curd when one has an upset stomach.

enjoy !!!
