I’m quite a fan of Hinduism’s most beloved god, Lord Ganesh, also affectionately known as Ganpatti.
We’ve got quite a few Ganpatti statues and wall hangings in our apartment. Last night, I couldn’t resist getting another one! Even my husband agreed it was a bargain.
We brought the Ganpatti wall hanging in the photo from a vendor at some traffic lights in a Mumbai suburb. It’s not apparent from the photo, but the wall hanging is a large 65 centimetres (25 inches) long and 55 centimetres (22 inches) wide. It’s made from a plaster mix, and painted. Very eye-catching.
The price? 100 rupees. It was the last one that the vendor had, so he was almost giving it away.
One thing that I love about Mumbai, is that you just never know what you’ll come across. Each day brings new surprises.
