I’m always fascinated by the unusual and unexpected things I come across in India. However, being back home in Australia has also prompted me to get my camera out in awe.
There are bees living in my parent’s house. A huge hive of them. In the roof. They’ve produced an amazing mass of honeycomb.
The bees can’t remain here though. They’re inconveniently located at the back of the house, near the vegetable garden. They’re also very active during the day, and have had numerous close encounters with my dad. He arrived to meet me at the airport with one eye swollen shut, after being stung on the face!
Getting rid of the bees requires the services of a beekeeper. Somehow, they manage to capture the bees and remove them without killing them. They then transfer them to another hive. Fascinating.

Scary! I’m looking warily at the bee hive that is growing gradually in the tree right behind my house. I can see the hive straight on from the upstairs window! Do update us if you plan to remove the hive professionally & how is it done.

My friend is a beekeeper…they remove the queen and relocate her, I think, and remove the hive during the day when the bees are gone. Pretty sure this is the procedure.
Interesting. Ramit, you probably should get that hive attended to sooner rather than later, while it’s not too big!
