  • Amit :P Nice excuse for getting some goodies! Alright, you win, you get chocolates when you come to India next! :D

I’ve never been out of India in my life! :-) Where did you think I was currently?

  • Bhaiya as in brotherly love. After all, I do like chocolate.

I’ve just finished my graduation this year and you’re married! Guess I should be calling you Bhaiya and you should be the one sending me chocolates along with other goodies :D .

I have a very small export firm. Deal in Jute mainly. No plans to move anywhere. Researching new markets generally. No special interest in only Australia. But yes, part of the big picture of life. :)

    Nice expansion plans. :-)

  • Sharell ji, I never meant to say I love Russia, but Amit Kumar bhaiya promised he’ll give me two chocolates if I say it. :P

Bhaiya as in brotherly bhaiya or UP ka bhaiya? I hope it’s the former! :D

Yeah and jokes apart, I plan to do good business in Australia some day dude!

You mean you’ll move to Australia? If I may ask, which business and why only Australia?

  • As for now, I think we would be happy if we get 24 hours water, electricity, basic phone/internet in the entire country, smooth roads that do not break our car’s axle’s every other month, a decent public transportation system, a fast judicial system…

And finally, a five year plan of the honorable Government of India that actually is implemented in less than fifty years.

Sounds too good to be true na?

Who says all of these need to be met to be amongst the biggest economies? I am talking about the power that comes with being a super economy and not the state of the internal affairs of our country.Though what you say is remarkably true.

  • cont..
In another two decades India will be amongst the top five economies along with China,Japan and Russia/Brazil. I would love to see how the western nations respond to such tectonic shifts in power.

I’ve miserably failed to understand why Sharell decided to make India her home. From the very beginning, the western world has been the frame of reference in almost every discussion.Criticism after criticism is
all I’ve seen her doing though some others may blatantly term it as an observation!Badly behaved Indians, Indians staring at her, No privacy, mosquitoes, filth on the streets, women wearning salwar kameez, conservative Indians, dust/pollution, human excreate lying on roads/beaches etc etc. If you’re uncomfortable with these issues, WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE? The average Indian is still traditional
and does not understand the so called western civilized conduct (which in my opinion is fake in itself). It’s akin to a person converting from religion A to B and then pointing out every inadequacy of B. Why convert to
B in the first place? Family values and spirituality were reasons why she moved to India (her own words) but there are hardly any posts on those.Even in those, there is surprisingly even more criticism.

Not a single point of criticism against Sharell or her views. Uski haan mein haan milane mein sab jute hua hain.I guess Sharell was right when she said she is given special/preferential treatment because she’s white.
I see this attitude so clearly in the comments. I hope the Indians can do some introspection on how haan mein haan milana with a foreigner comes so naturally to them!I run a couple of blogs on the net too where I heap a fair amount of criticism on India. But the comments, they lam blast me for being so critical. I see so much of optimism in their
comments.I don’t see that here. It’s possibly because most of them here are westernized themselves and don’t appreciate too much Indianness. Neither am I narrow-minded, nor are the commentors otherwise. But Indians will be happy as long as you give them writing space, they don’t ask for much though that has begun to change.Indians are so desperate for acknowledgment, they get carried away so easily. This is all I wanted to convey.

Sharell for sure is a warm and genuine person, I don’t contend
that. Anyways, it was good while it lasted. You won’t see me around here anymore.Wish you a prosperous and happy life ahead Sharell.I am sure India will continue to do you good in spite of her limitations.Take care.

I also realized that while we Asians sympathize and support most foreigners trying to adjust to our ‘madness’, there is no respite or slack for Asians turning up in Western world.

That statement is more or less correct. This blog should have been about how India was able to attract an Australian in spite of her inadequacies.
Instead, every inadequacy of India is highlighted(many many times) with real life examples here. What’s more shocking is how Indians can join in and rip their motherland apart post after post. How many of people who read this blog regularly feel this way?

He didn’t ask a naive question, he simply asked what rich people do in India.

It was a perfectly normal question to you, but the most ridiculous question I’ve heard in my entire life along with the other statements.

It is a perfectly normal question, no more naive than the suggestion that only the US is more industralised than India.

Look up the meaning of industry verticals.

Western media portrays India in a negative manner but then western media doesnt portray how India was robbed of its riches, its peace, its stability, etc once.

Well, we are a poor country and it’s normal for anyone to project India the way it is. But the western media does it very regularly and opportunistically.

That’s a very good point…….by the way, we may not survive till 2050 because of Global Warming……..lets hope for the best

Humans are selfish, they’ll find always find ways to survive. This century will be the hotbed for clean/green technology and forget global warming, I can already see the ice age coming in another century! :D

Can one of you native Hindi speakers please further enlighten me as to the many uses of bhayia? Particularly, the effect if I, as a female, was to say it in certain tones of voice to guys. I hear it can be used as a reprimand? Is that right? Such as in “bhay yaaa”.
