I don’t yet have a good enough understanding about Indian culture to write those sort of things. Plus, I can barely sit though a saas-bahu serial, let alone write one!!
Hey…I must say you look beautiful in the photo on the header..
Bumped on your blog through “Mahendra’s” article….
Glad to know that you feel happy and contented in India even without many material things.Thats the very essence of India..
I wish you a very happy life here…
Love,
Mugdha
Thank you so much, Mugdha.
India certainly has taught me a lot.
The photo on the header is from an advertisement I did while living in Kolkata. They wanted a foreigner to dress up as an Indian. It was a foreign exchange advertisement with a slogan something like “we exchange foreign into Indian”.
“We exchange foreign into Indian” , sounds very ambiguous.
So Mugdha,
Did you get Mugdha (infatuated) looking at Sharell’s picture?
What can i say, that’s very nice as you done that job of exchanging foreigner into Indian one…! He… he..!
Have a even very great enjoyment here…
Fantastic depiction of life in Mumbai. I just came back from Mumbai, and had such a great time. Things have improved since my last visit in 2001, but still a way to go. Wish you well trough water cuts and men behaving badly. Would love to visit soon.
Thanks so much Jay!
I came across your blog and I must say it’s brilliant! I love your input and love reading what you experience. I’m trying to go thru most of your articles. I’m a 21 year old indo canadian raised and born in toronto. Mumbai attracts me so much as if I’m meant to be there. My mom was against my trip to mumbai in oct 2009 believe it or not I lyed and said Im going over to ottawa and flew allllll the way down there! It was only 10 days with my best friend, but I had the time of my life. I love the city the people the lifestyle. I get intrigued by the people on the streets. I’m very curious to live there and experience a change and I believe i can fit in. I know you must be thinking vacation and reality is much different and I do realize that, but even knowing so I still want to give it a shot. I’m planning on shifting in 2011 and giving 6 months of my time to mumbai. I hope to make the most of it and reading your articles inspire me furthermore! Anyway continue to do what your best at:)
Ps If your wondering If i got caught by my mom , I DID!! it was not good but now we look back and laugh. Even better she supports my decision to move there for the most part:)!
Much Love, Binning
Hi Mai, thank you so much! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed reading my blog. Vacation is very different to living in Mumbai, for sure, but it sounds like you have the perfect attitude to adapt to life here. If you’re curious and keen to experience a new way of life, then you’ll be fine. It’s great that you plan to move here for 6 months, it will be amazing (and life changing) for you. Do get in touch when you’re here.
Glad to know that you feel happy and contented in India even without many material things. i realy like your all article.thanks for such a nice articles

Hello Sharell Bhaujo,
It is Really nice to read your blog. I am really I can’t express the way you expressed the Oriya culture. I read the whole blog ,I read about you in a odiya news paper. It is amazing that you change yourself. So much about all of our Oriya traditions. When we people are going away of our own calture and tradition. You accepted very happily . It is Impressive. I remember i saw a Odiya Movie Name ” Paradeshi Chadhei” I don’t know if i spell correctly. It is a old Odiya Movie. It reminds me that movie
Keep writing .

Biplab
Thank you so much Biplab! Such a lovely complement.
Hi Sherell,
First of all thanks for your about.com infos, which is really nice info guide, secondly you seems rarest of rare western lady, who adapts and adjusts to all Indian situations.
Besides, am more interested to know some of more travel tips from you. have sent seperate mail to you. Request you to read and reply.
Regards,
Sharell, how’s life going? This is a great blog you have started. Please keep up the good work. I had curiosity as to how Mumbai is different from Melbourne, Sidney or Perth. If you could write a post about it, that would be great. I grew up in Mumbai and have been in United States for 3 years. It would be happy reminiscence for me if you could write. Keep up good work and may Ganesha bless you
great blog . it seems u compromising in life.may god bless you both of you.
I Feel u r homesick.(remembering Melbourne).
you should visit your town and your dear people.
Thanks so much.
I do get to visit home a couple of times a year fortunately. But yes, I sometimes get homesick.
Hi Sharell, I happened to stumble upon your site ‘www.whiteindianhousewife.com and found it interesting as you enable me to see India through a foreigner’s eye. What we take so much for granted as part and parcel of our life is seen as unique enough to be written about. Here I refer to your article where you describe how the rains ruined your terrace after all the painting. I plan to read all your blogs and join the forum too. Reading about travel and varied travel experiences gives me great joy. You have got me hooked for life. Keep up the good work.
Bhagirathi
Awesome! Keep it up!!
Priya, I’m glad you like this site. Keep a track of Sharrel’s blogs. They are very interesting.
Thank you so much Bhagirathi and Priya!
Hey Sharell,
I am currently staying in Amritsar with my would-be inlaws and stumbled across your site.
I too am from a small town in Australia and now in a very noisy, Punjabi city…
I am just starting to read your posts.
Relate muchly to your posts, however I live with many more of the western luxuries….
I am too on the cusp of here or there and have noticed soooo many changes in these two short months…
Hope all is well…

Thank you so much for your kind and welcoming words, Nachiket.
hi,
while browsing randomly for something related to Orissa, I came across your blog. My wife (half German half Polish, grew up in America) and I (an Oriya) loved and enjoyed all your posts. You seem to have a diverse interest in things.
best wishes,

Hi Satya, great to come across someone else from Orissa!
I’m glad you like the blog too. You’re right, I am interested in lots of different things…. but perhaps it’s because there is so much to be interested in in India.
