I was passing through Delhi Airport late Wednesday afternoon on my way to Uttarakhand (more about that later). As I was about to step out of the airport, a huge crowd started surging forward. Knowing that my blog isn’t THAT popular, I wondered who could possibly be behind me. Shah Rukh Khan? The Big B?

I arrived in Udaipur this afternoon and immediately fell in love. Not with a person, but with the city. Udaipur is often called the most romantic city in India. I really think it could be true.

I can’t believe it. I’ve actually driven an auto rickshaw! Not in traffic, mind you, but it’s a start. No longer am I a mere passenger in one of these pervasive pieces of Indian transportation. It wasn’t easy, and neither was I very composed. At one point, I was cautioned that the rickshaw could topple…

I arrived back from my trip to Spiti, in remote high altitude Himachal Pradesh, yesterday afternoon feeling very glad that it was over. It was a difficult trip. However, the images of stunning scenery that are etched in my mind made it all worthwhile….

It’s Sunday, so what do the people of Bombay like to do? Head to the beach! Juhu and Girgaum (Marine Drive) Chowpatty are the most popular ones. Going to the beach in India isn’t like going to the beach in the West though….

One of the things I really enjoyed about my recent Indian homestay experience, in Kerala and Karnataka, was the opportunity to talk extensively to the host families. One host family was quite new to the hospitality business, and we chatted about the funny incidents that had happened with their guests…..
