Sometime later today, a cyclone is due to hit Mumbai. Since it’s likely we’ll be getting up close and personal with it, its name is Cyclone Phyan. I’ve never experienced a cyclone before, and I must say the anticipation feels rather strange….

Mumbai’s local train service is the fastest way of getting from one side of the city to the other. If you travel during the day or late at night, when there aren’t too many passengers, it can even be quite comfortable. Travel at any other time though, and you’ll most likely find the alarming things you’ve heard about the Mumbai local to be true….

The monsoon has finally settled into Mumbai. It’s been raining consistently for the past couple of days now. I don’t normally like rainy weather. The dull, grey sky dampens my spirits. However, I’ve come to realise that the start of the monsoon season is my favourite time of the year in India….

I’m quite a fan of Hinduism’s most beloved god, Lord Ganesh, also affectionately known as Ganpatti. We’ve got quite a few statues and wall hangings of Ganpatti in our apartment. Last night, I couldn’t resist getting another one! Even my husband agreed it was a bargain….
